Global Foundries Fab 8.1 Expansion, Malta, NY: In the expansion to this state-of-the-art Chip Fab facility, AJS held a Prime Contract for the concrete slabs, equipment pads, & containment curbing. Seven buildings with 307,000 square feet of slabs, over 10,000 cubic yards of concrete for the slabs, 84,000 square feet of equipment pads, and 2,000 lineal feet of concrete containment curbing. Final sub-grade preparation for the slabs on grade encompasses over 6,200 cubic yards of crushed stone, installed and graded to within the specific tolerances required. AJS crews performed a significant amount of work within the existing clean room areas. The strict protocol levels for these areas necessitated AJS to set up air-tight tenting and negative air machines, as well as pre-clean tools and equipment before entering.
